Chances are very good that these charges will apply even if an operator cannot find a number or if you are given an incorrect number! So what other options exist? By dialing long distance through your local carrier (411), you generally will pay less ($.85 - $.95). However, if you have an internet connection (and you probably wouldn't be reading this if you don't!), there are numerous long-distance directories that are absolutely free.
