Capitalization of InterestUnder the uniform capitalization rules, you generally mustcapitalize interest on debt equal to the amount of your expendituresto produce real property or certain tangible personal property. Theproperty must be produced by you for use in your trade or business orfor sale to customers. Interest related to property that you acquirein any manner other than by producing it is not capitalized. Interest you paid or incurred during the production period must becapitalized if the property produced is designated property.Designated property is any of the following. - Real property.
