luxury hotels in EgerNew owners take over at Three Mountain Inn JAMAICA - The Three Mountain Inn in Jamaica has new owners. prenota alberghi Ikskile The Acclaimed 15-room inn, with full restaurant service, is located on Route 30 and 100 in the center of the village. David and Stacy Hiler will be the resident innkeepers, along with their son, Miles David, who celebrated the inn purchase by being born the next day. "It was a close race," Stacy says. "The papers were signed at 4:30 p.m. and we were at the hospital by midnight." David Hiler, a Vermont native, is no strange to the hospitality business. His first job, at age 14, was washing dishes in a Brattleboro restaurant. While in school, he waited at various inns, including the Inn at Saw Mill Farm. At the age of 19, he was the manager of the then Chester Inn in Chester. As Vermonters are wont to do, Hiler spent 10 years in California, where he earned a degree in hotel restaurant management from San Francisco City College. Hiler became the youngest manager in the Hard Rock Cafe organization. "California was a great place to hang out," he says, "but my root and my soul were always in Vermont. I always knew I would come back." And four years ago he did, joining the staff of the Brattleboro-based inn consultants, Oates & Bredfeldt, who are partners in the Three Mountain Inn venture. Stacy Hiler is also no stranger to the hospitality business. "I'm from New Orleans and hospitality is the major business there," she said. "School and hospitality jobs went hand-in-hand." The Hilers are excited about working and raising a family in Jamaica. "We dreamed of living in and being part of a small community. Everyone here has been supportive in our venture." For Elaine and Charles Murray, the sale is a culmination of a 21-year love affair with the inn, Jamaica and Vermont. According to Elaine Murray, "We plan to stay in the immediate area. We love it here, but it was time to turn the inn over to fresh ideas and new approaches." Charles Murray adds, "We are thrilled the inn will be in the hands of recognized leaders in the inn world. Oates & Bredfeldt have 25 years experience guiding innkeepers in the search of excellence." Interestingly, Bill Oates helped the Murrays in their purchase of the inn 21 years ago. The inn is currently open as a bed and breakfast with dinner service scheduled to begin Sept. 1. Renovations and landscaping will be ongoing this summer and fall. "We hope we can maintain the legacy the Murrays have passed on to us," Stacy Hiler said. For information: David Hiler at (802) 874-4140
