Mr. John Simon

JohnSimon was appointed Business Manager of St. Thomas More Church on January 1,2000. John is a resident of South Holland, Illinois where he is an active memberof Holy Ghost Parish. John was born in Oak Park, Illinois and holds a B.A. inEducation and an M.A. in Educational Administration from the University ofIllinois-Urbana He has done additional post-graduate work. After six years ofteaching. John pursued a career in non-for-profit management that entailednearly twenty-five years in trade association fund raising and lobbying in thestate of Illinois Ten years ago, John changed careers and entered into the worldof church business administration. During that period, he served as businessadministrator of a suburban Chicago Catholic parish As professionaladministrator of the parish in support of the Pastor, he was responsible for thephysical, financial and personnel resources of the church and religious educationoffice. John is committed to the Catholic Church, its gospel values, churchdoctrines, beliefs and social teachings. He thoroughly understands diocesan andparochial systems and their interrelation. John currently serves his parish as alector and Eucharistic minister trainer, and as the Parish Ministry CommissionChairperson. Formerly, he co-chaired a $1.6 million Building Fund Drive andserved on the School Board. At the regional level he formerly served as a deanerydelegate to the Chicago Archdiocesan Pastoral Council. On the professional side,John is a member of the National Association of Church Business Administration (NACBA),where he currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors, Vice Presidentfor Education, Training and Certification, and as a local Chapter President. Heattained the status of Fellow in Church Business Administration (FCBA) in 1991via certification from NACBA and the college of St Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota.On the personal side, John is married to Mira who is parish Director of Musicand Liturgy. They have an eighteen-year old son, Kent, who is in his first yearof college...
