PACK 13 PINEWOOD DERBY RULES AND REGULATIONS READ ALL RULES BEFORE YOU START YOUR CAR!
A NEW car must be built by each participant. We encourage Child-Adult interaction in building a car. Please remember, this project is meant to provide a positive learning experiencefor the boys. FOR THE SCOUT'S SAKE, have him do as much work as possibleon his car. Also, remember to promote teamwork, because your den alsocompetes as a den. All cars MUST be turned in by 12:00 Noon, Saturday February 15th, (St. Mary's Old Church Basement). The race will be held in the PewaukeeLake Elementary School Gym at 6:00PM, on Thursday, February 20, 2003
SECTION 1 WEIGHT, LENGTH AND WIDTH REQUIREMENTS All specifications forheight and weight are listed in the OFFICIAL GRAND PRIX PINEWOOD DERBY KITSantiago de Compostela hotel roomspublication included with the kit. If you do not have an instructionsheet in your box, be sure to contact your Den Leader for a copy.ONLY THE WEIGHT FROM THE OFFICIAL SCALE, AT FINAL INSPECTION WILL BE CONSIDERED FINAL. Please understand that we all need to weigh in at one standard weight.Encourage your den to have a meeting to weigh in your car just before the finalinspection. MERCURY MAY NOT BE USED FOR ADDING WEIGHT. Non-stationaryweights are not allowed. Cars with wet paint will NOT be accepted at the technical inspection. Ifyou bring your car into inspection and the paint is still soft, the finish maybe damaged because all the cars are placed into bubble wrap bags for protectionuntil the race. ALSO, CARS MUST HAVE THEIR OFFICIAL ASSIGNEDNUMBER PAINTED OR DECALED TO THE BODY SECTION 3 WHEELS, AXLES, AND LUBRICATION All specifications for wheels and axles are listed in the OFFICIALGRAND PRIX PINEWOOD DERBY KIT publication included with the kit. Verona MejorSECTION 4 TECHNICAL INSPECTION Saturday, February 15th , is technicalinspection day. The inspection site will be St. Mary's Old Church Basement. It will be from 10:00 A.M. until NOON. ALLCARS MUST BE TURNED IN ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15th, NO EXCEPTIONS!If you can't bring it to inspection, have SOMEONEbring it for you. Each car MUST pass inspection before it will beallowed to race. Cars which pass technical inspection will be impoundeduntil Derby Day.NOTE: The inspection team has the right to disqualify cars which do notmeet the above rules or other rules listed in the OFFICIAL GRAND PRIX PINEWOOD DERBY KITpublication. Car owners will be told of any noncompliance and given anopportunity to modify the car to comply with these rules. The car must bere-inspected to qualify for the race. SECTION 5 RACE DAY RULES 5.1 Only scouts notified that they are 'on deck' may enter the pit area. 5.2 If a car leaves the track during a heat, all cars involved in the heatwill race again. 5.3 If a car is damaged as a result of a collision caused by another car, thescout will have three minutes to repair his car. All repairs are to be performedwith a race official. The car must still meet all height length, and weight restrictions. 5.4 If a car is damaged as a result of an accident in the pit area, you mustnotify the official starter and three minutes will be allowed for repairs.
